Presentation of the carpooling solution

Developed and manufactured in France, the Pryntec solution counts the number of passengers in the front and back of vehicles. Respecting the GDPR, the carpooling solution is materialized in the form of an all-in-one and modular totem, according to its use.

We find inside this one :

  • An operating system
  • A network connection
  • Software with Artificial Intelligence
  • ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Reader) sensors

How does the carpooling solution work?

When carpool lanes are activated, Artificial Intelligence algorithms count passengers, check Crit’Air stickers, categorize vehicles; or perform any other intelligent image processing modulated as needed.

A message on the variable message signs is triggered to notify users that they are in the reserved lanes if they are not authorized.

The Pryntec carpool lane control solution works:

  • Whether the traffic is fluid or congested (from 0 to 130km/h)
  • In all weather conditions: rain, snow, etc.
  • Day or night
  • On any type of vehicle

Easy to deploy, the system is autonomous and only requires a power supply (230V) and a network connection.

Where are the Pryntec carpooling solutions deployed?

After an experimental phase on the A6 in 2019, three Pryntec carpooling solutions have been deployed:  

  • A first one in Grenoble on the A48: installed in July 2020 and put into regular service on September 30, 2020, inaugurating the first controlled carpooling lane in France.
  • Two others in Lyon: installed in October 2020 and put into regular service on December 18, 2020 on the M6/M7 routes

Since the regular implementation of the three Pryntec carpooling solutions, the false detection rate is evaluated at less than 1% according to the Cerema methodology.
